The Peace Silver Dollar was minted from 1921 to 1935 as a tribute to the end of World War I and the nation’s desire for lasting peace. Struck in 90% silver and 10% copper, each coin contains approximately 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver and measures 38.1 mm in diameter. Designed by Anthony de Francisci, the obverse features a radiant Lady Liberty wearing a crown of rays, while the reverse depicts a perched bald eagle clutching an olive branch above the word “Peace.” The high-relief 1921 issue is especially renowned for its sharp detail, while later years were struck in standard relief for improved durability. These coins circulated during the Roaring Twenties, the Great Depression, and into the pre–World War II era, capturing a defining chapter in U.S. history. Valued by collectors and silver investors alike, Peace Dollars remain a beautiful symbol of both American artistry and the nation’s enduring spirit.
